Kitty Tube Outdoor Cat House Review

Our beautiful feral cat just loves this outdoor cat house! Believe it or not, it has been a very cold winter in the South and this house has really been a life saver. We use the bed outdoors even though many recommend the straw. Our little girl just loves it and on really cold nights she gets a couple old down jackets that she can really snuggle deep in . The next morning I put my hand in where she was sleeping and it is pretty toasty after a night of below 20 degrees F. Unfortunately she has been using the insulation on the sides as a scratching post. My thought would have been to have a slot that the insulation was inserted into so a cat could not scratch it. This of course would require a new or modified mold. Price and being able to scratch the insulation into shreds is why I can't give this five stars.

Originally I thought it was too small (including the entry hole) for my three ferals. I soon learned that all three cats (including two large males) fit inside. In the summer it is in the shade so that it stays cool and offers a quiet place to sleep. This past winter it stayed warm and completely dry sitting out against our house with no other cover. I do have the awning and heated pad, though. My only issue is that it is black. I would love to see more natural colors (like dark green) to fit outdoor environment. Compared to other outside houses this is very easy to move around because it is lightweight. You can also wash this out easily, letting it dry in the sun.

I have a few semi-feral cats that I have been feeding in my back yard for over a year. I have also provided home-made shelter along with the store bought one for them, but none of the cats would have anything to do with the shelter. Although they would come in and eat the food, they'd leave soon after. I have also been searching for an outdoor cat house for nearly two years but couldn't find one that I can feel safe for the cats to be in until I came across the Kitty Tube. After reading about a hundred review, I decided this could be the one so I got it. Once it arrived, it was super easy to set up and I was happy with the quality... but the true test is yet to come. I set the Kitty Tube in my herb garden and my husband said, "These cats will never use it". I mainly got this house for the two stray I call Candy and Banjo. They have been hanging around my back yard for a couple of years now. To make a long story short, all the cats were checking the tube, in and out, but not stay in. Two days later, I woke up and find Banjo sleeping in it. This is now his house so I took a picture and sent it to my husband and he couldn't believe it either! Now I'm thinking, if Banjo does not want to share his house, I will probably have to get another one for Candy.
