Jura ENA Micro 9 Review

Jura makes some very popular coffee makers, and for good reason. They are high quality, very simple to set up and run, and most importantly the coffee is excellent. The Jura ENA Micro 9 was our choice for a couple of reasons. It is a bit more compact than some of the similarly priced options. It only makes one cup at a time but, in our experience, that's all you need for most homes. The milk intake is also conveniently located so it doesn't add to the width. As such the machine fits nicely into most small kitchens where space is a premium.

We had an instruction manual in German, but you didn't need it. The setup and menu options are really straight forward, even though there are quite a few things you can control. The color coded messages (i.e., Green = good, Red = bad), the click wheel, and the simple instructions make it a breeze to operate. The drawer for inputting the beans (on the top) and the fresh water (on the back) are super easy to operate and get to. The water input tank even has a small collapsible handle. Genius! The simple elegant silver design (w/ black on top) looks really great in the kitchen as well. Very very stylish!

It was hard to imagine that this machine, as small as it is, less than half the size of my first Jura machine, could be capable of making a cappuccino. However, it made a much better cappuccino than that machine ever did with a fraction of the mess and cleanup. It makes many of the same coffee drinks as my Jura Impressa J9 does. It does most of the things the large Impressa machine does but it has a much smaller footprint on my counter and it makes a lot less noise.

For the past two weeks, I have made espresso after espresso, cappuccino after cappuccino, latte after latte, ENA vs Impressa, side-by-side and still have not been able to see or taste any difference between the two machines... well, not in the output anyway. There are fewer choices of coffee drinks to be made with this machine, but 99% of the drinks we make are the ones that can be made with this machine. It truly is the best single serve coffee maker on the market!
